TERRITORIEN 

Ausgehend von der aktuellen Situation in der Oranienstraße, in der Gewerberäume und soziale Initiativen zugunsten von wirtschaftlicher Gewinnmaximierung bedroht sind, und diese Nachbarschaft als identitätsstiftender Raum immer mehr verlorengeht, hat sich SCOTTY den Arbeitsschwerpunkt TERRITORIEN gewählt.

Nach lexikalischer Definition sind Territorien geografisch abgegrenzte Gebiete, auf die ein Besitz-, Macht- oder Hoheitsanspruch erhoben wird.
Territorien sind umkämpft, sie werden angeeignet, abgesteckt und gesichert, sie sind also Ausdruck von Zugehörigkeiten und spiegeln Machtverhältnisse.
SCOTTY möchte diese Verhältnisse auf verschiedene Weise künstlerisch sichtbar machen.
Dabei geht es um Fragen von Eigentum, Aneignung, Erweiterung und darum Zusammenhänge und Konstruktionen gegebenenfalls auch subversiv zu durchbrechen.
Grenzen werden in Frage gestellt, um Territorien in Möglichkeitsräume zu verwandeln. Freiräume werden genutzt und geschaffen, neue mentale und soziale Räume können entstehen. Private Sphären werden in öffentliche Räume erweitert.
SCOTTY verhandelt in diesem Zyklus: Emanzipation, den (erweiterten) Körper, Genderfragen, philosophische Denkräume bzw. Theorien und beschäftigt sich mit geopolitischen Aspekten, dem alten/neuen Europa und mit Gentrifizierung.

TERRITORIES

Based on the current situation in the Oranienstrasse where the attempt to maximize real estate profits endangers spaces that house commercial enterprises as well as social initiatives and a neighborhood as a place of identity is gradually lost, SCOTTY has chosen to focus its work on Territories. According to the dictionary territories are distinct geographical areas for which there are demands of possession, sovereignty and jurisdiction. Territories are being fought over; they are annexed, claimed and protected. They are also an expression of dominion and a reflection of the balance of power. SCOTTY would like to bring these structures to light in a variety of artistic ways. This effort deals with questions about ownership, assimilation, expansion and thereby attempts to subversively break some of these connections and structures. Boundaries are questioned to turn territories into areas of potential. Free spaces are created and utilized, new mental and social spaces can emerge.Private spheres are expanded and turned public. In this artistic cycle SCOTTY negotiates emancipation, the extended body, questions of gender, philosophical constructs or rather theories and deals with geopolitical aspects, the historical and contemporary Europe as well as with gentrification.
